故事从慈祥的爷爷给生病的孙子讲故事说起，爷爷带来一本厚厚的童话故事书《公主新娘》。这个世代相传的童话故事讲述了一段爱与冒险的真爱故事。善良美丽的少女布卡特（罗宾·怀特 Robin Wright 饰）住在宁静的小村庄弗洛林，她与少年维斯特雷（加利·艾尔维斯 Cary Elwes 饰）青梅竹马两小无猜，两人很快陷入热恋。然而贫穷的维斯特雷希望给布卡特更好的生活，于是扬帆远航离开了村庄。但是维斯特雷的船并没有到达目的地，传言说他死在了海盗的手里。五年后，伤心欲绝的布卡特成为了王子胡姆普丁克（克里斯·萨兰登 Chris Sarandon饰）的未婚妻，可她并不爱他，她的心里仍苦苦思念着真爱维斯特雷。一次意外让布卡特再次遇见了维斯特雷，然而邪恶的王子却绑架了布卡特，并逼迫她嫁给自己。此时的维斯特雷已是一位勇敢强壮的海盗，为救真爱，他与武艺超群的剑客埃尼戈·蒙托亚...
An elderly man reads the book "The Princess Bride" to his sick and thus currently bedridden adolescent grandson, the reading of the book which has been passed down within the family for generations. The grandson is sure he won't like the story, with a romance at its core, he preferring something with lots of action and "no kissing". But the grandson is powerless to stop his grandfather, whose feelings he doesn't want to hurt. The story centers on Buttercup, a former farm girl who has been chosen as the princess bride to Prince Humperdinck of Florian. Buttercup does not love him, she who still laments the death of her one true love, Westley, five years ago. Westley was a hired hand on the farm, his stock answer of "as you wish" to any request she made of him which she came to understand was his way of saying that he loved her. But Westley went away to sea, only to be killed by the Dread Pirate Roberts. On a horse ride to clear her mind of her upcoming predicament of marriage, Buttercup is kidnapped by a band of bandits: Vizzini who works on his wits, and his two associates, a giant named Fezzik who works on his brawn, and a Spaniard named Inigo Montoya, who has trained himself his entire life to be an expert swordsman. They in turn are chased by the Dread Pirate Roberts himself. But chasing them all is the Prince, and his men led by Count Tyrone Rugen. What happens to these collectives is dependent partly on Buttercup, who does not want to marry the Prince, and may see other options as lesser evils, and partly on the other motives of individuals within the groups. 出乎意料的好看，虽然非常舞台剧，但考虑到这是1987年的电影，解构童话的故事挺有趣的。

好久前看的电影，也找了好久好久好久好久好久，终于找到了！我就说怎么印象里电影人物演戏跟闹着玩儿一样，原来是电影中的故事，终于找到了，太不容易了
不晓得这部片子怎么这么多三星，有人说因为和外国人审美不一致/童年经历不同，其实最主要原因应该是中英文差异。英文台词的功底很深厚，放到今天依然能打，演员们的台词也说的非常好。即使这部电影依然是古早刻板印象的英雄拯救公主，也无法掩盖优点。

好正统的童话电影..好正统的公主王子穷小子..导演的bdsm执念、莫名其妙的诙谐和冒险游戏通关音效。80s了还给姑娘立贞节牌坊。「-而你的脑子就比不上我。-你这么聪明啊？-你有没有听说过柏拉图、亚里士多德、苏格拉底？-有。 -都是蠢蛋。」
1987年的电影 现在看不论剧情 服装 道具都很过关 台词 动作设计也很考究 击剑的几个片段尤其 那种仿佛舞台剧的浮夸感我太喜欢了
